What is it? How can it help you?
Fears and Phobias
Phobias are the most common mental disorders in the USA, and there are three general categories:
- Agoraphobia (with and without panic). Fear of being in embarrassing places or places difficult to escape from.
- Social phobias, which lead to avoidance. Social phobias include specific phobias (e.g., animal(s); natural environment; blood-injection-injury) and include situational phobias (e.g. fear of flying; of and/or being in elevators).
- Other phobias, that is to say, cued by stimuli other than in categories one and two.
There are literally thousands of known phobias, including fear of death or illness, flying, walking or driving on bridges, elevators, heights, enclosed spaces, rejection in romantic situations, crowds, subways, dirt and germs. The list goes on.
These everyday concepts, situations, physical objects paralyze the phobic with terror. The sufferer is debilitated, decisions taken out of their hands, areas and normal, enjoyable aspects of the world utterly closed off to them. The streets, the home, relationships with others are veritable obstacle courses of potential horror.
Hypnosis intervenes and eliminates fears and phobias often within a few hours-compare the time and cost of traditional psychotherapy!
The phobia is tackled at the root, the perception realigned and the responsibility for one's own life regained by the patient.
