Hypnosis That Doesn’t Stigmatize Eating Disorders

eating disorder signYou ever notice that people who eat too much are considered as someone who just has poor eating habits, and people who eat too little are pathologized, pitied, and diagnosed with a mental disorder? Why?

How come if you eat too much or the wrong foods, it’s an unfavorable preference, but if you’re bulimic or anorexic, people wonder about your childhood, about your confidence, and about your overall mental well-being?

Life Coach Helps Sister Lose Weight And Become A Champion

A teacher in Dublin recently wrote an excerpt for the Irish Independent that I’d like to share with you. The teacher, Danielle Hayes, went from a massively overweight woman to a much slimmer World Champion power-lifter. With the help of her brother, who served also as her fitness and life coach, Hayes stuck to a regimen of diet and exercise that not only got her to her target body weight, but made her an elite world athlete.

I urge you all to read the article on your own, but I want to quote some of the reasons she lost weight, several of which I hear on a daily basis from my clients who come to me to lose weight: According to Hayes, she wanted,

“…to be healthy, to keep fit, to remain mentally focused, to maintain [her] physique, and to boost [her] confidence and self-esteem…”

That last reason is what I hear almost every person want to accomplish: gaining confidence. You will gain confidence when you come to me, just like Danielle Hayes. With confidence and a better body, you can be the master of whatever you choose to be.

Hypnosis Turns Fiction Into Fat Loss

In Michigan recently, a woman got hypnotized for weight-loss in a very interesting way. Her hypnotist, Dr. Rena Greenberg, convinced the middle-aged woman (who was over 200 pounds) that she had gotten gastric bypass surgery when she in fact never did.

Though the implications of effectively turning something fictional into a fact might seem shocking, it illustrates a central point for hypnosis: the subconscious doesn’t know the difference between the real and the imagined.

That is the crux of hypnosis and neuroplasticity; under that premise, positive behavioral change is affected. In this woman’s case, she lost her craving for sugar and her confidence boosted. As a direct result, a significant amount of weight was lost.
