Hypnotherapy for Weight Loss

Usually clients that come to see me for weight loss are clients that have tried everything: from every fad diet, to pills, to religious gym regimes, to starving, to surgery, you name it. Here’s the good news: hypnosis can help. Using hypnosis for weight loss is not simply to target body fat, but it is used to get to the core reason as to why you are unable to lose or maintain a healthy weight.emotional eating

The goal is to be healthier, not thinner.
It’s nice to want a body like the models you’ve seen on the cover of ‘Health’ magazine but true health looks different on each individual depending on their blood type and body shape. Hypnotherapy for weight loss and weight control alters your neural pathways. This means, it edits how your subconscious perceives and reacts to food and exercise. Hypnosis for weight loss is tied in with the science of ultra-metabolism. This system affects your genes by using healthy foods to increase metabolism, and therefore, helping you burn calories.

Taking your individual lifestyle, stress level, blood type, age, and food choices into consideration, I can create a food plan just for you.

A habit we must break is ostressedur tendency to overeat when we’re feeling depressed or stressed. This is an issue because eating can be just as addictive and habitual as drug use. Dopamine and other brain chemicals that allow us to feel good are released when we eat foods high in fat and sugar. People who are feeling down in the dumps will turn to food for a quick pick-me-up. WebMD states that “once people experience pleasure associated with increased dopamine transmission in the brain’s reward pathway from eating certain foods, they quickly feel the need to eat again.” The link can be found here.

Together, we will work on four important factors that effect weight loss and maintenance.

  1. Reduce stress levels: According to Stress in America™: – American Psychological Association, “39% [of Americans] reported overeating or eating unhealthy food [due to stress].” We will work on finding other means of stress relief apart from food.
  2. Determine the psychological origins that prevent you from controlling your cravings and appetite, making good food and life choices, being consistent in exercise, and eating smaller portions. This will allow us to deal with the emotional aspect of your eating problem to break negative behavior patterns. We will institute new, positive eating habits and attitudes. This is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle. Blood type, genetics, portion control, and the amount of water you drink will be used to create and establish the new patterns that will break your addiction to carbohydrates, sugar and artificial substitutes.
  3. Help improve your self-image, self-esteem, and self-confidence. Having grounded self-love and positive motivation will keep you on the journey in pursuing your personal best.
  4. Help set up a connection between your mind and your body’s natural rhythm. Syncing your mind and body will help you understand when you’re eating for nutrition and when you’re desiring to eat because of stress.

Self-Medication Turned Self-Mutalation.

Addiction isn’t a pretty word. It’s, unfortunately, so often visually associated with junkies and emotionally tied to rebellion. Compassion is a helping hand never fully extended because, let’s be honest, assumptions keep us hesitant to fully committing ourselves to helping those who can’t help themselves.

In early years of development, our frontal lobes aren’t fully formed. This means all we know is adopted from the environment surrounding us. If those who influence us have unhealthy ways of coping, we might also. tumblr_static_filename_640_v2Addiction, contrary to what is thought, can be a learnt behavior. In a family where words are kept behind glasses of Bourbon, there’s a chance drinking could occupy the space reserved for conversation. Drugs are used for coping with the stress of family, work, identity, and everyday life. Addictions are a physical manifestation of an inner mewing. For many addicts, the use of drugs was a form of self-medication, but mutated into self-mutilation.

Some addictions aren’t even drug based. There can be addictions to sex, love, compulsions, and gossip. Imagine the inability to keep a secret. Addictions are more psychologically than neurologically rooted. Meaning they’re more mind than brain based. Compulsions are usually neurological. I have had tremendous success integrating Life Coaching and Hypnotherapy through neuroplasticity, but it’s important to identify the underlining irritations. So many problems can be solved and resolved with hypnosis.

Clinical Hypnosis for PTSD

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder develops out of some kind of extreme psychological event that usually involved the threat of injury or death. This can be war, rape, domestic abuse, or the sudden loss of a loved one are just a few examples. Symptoms are not hard to miss. They include flashback episodes, nightmares, associating events in your life with that prior event, emotional numbing, despondency, hyper-vigilance, anger; and physical manifestations of headaches, dizziness, and agitation.

Clinical Hypnosis is the prime choice for PTSD treatment. In a city as high-powered and abuzz as NYC, it is easy to ignore the wounds left by trauma. The moment you do recognize them is the moment you should take action and find a cure.

Fortunately, because the images of a traumatic episode are so vivid, gliding into a trance is not difficult. You and I will use painful memories, re-purposing them to create a better emotional and mental framework.

For example, if you witnessed a friend die of a disease in an army camp and the image of him suffering on his bed haunts you every day, we will use that image in all its detail to help you break free from the negative associations. We will help you rise above, we will help you say goodbye, and we will get your life as it is today back to where you want it.

I just want to mention that for those survivors who have PTSD, I have only respect for your strength. Of course, I don’t have total understanding because no one can truly understand what you’ve lived through – it’s insulting for anyone to pretend like they can. But I do have the skills to help give you your life back.

Get Rid of Stress via Clinical Hypnosis

A stressed out womanHaving practiced Clinical Hypnosis in NYC for over 37 years, I find that stress is the basis for nearly every anxiety disorder that New Yorkers face.

The city, as always, is demanding and competitive. Add to that the conditions of the Digital Age: the impossible struggle for excuses to be “unavailable” causes people to forget how to gain and appreciate the time they do need for themselves, even when they have earned the freedom to do so.

Founded on the science of neuroplasticity, Clinical Hypnosis gets you to let go of those inhibitions that prevent the mind from shutting down and entering relaxation. There’s no reason in fearing that such a state will leave you vulnerable, weak, and unaccomplished. If anything, the pressure to perform despite exhaustion is often the main trouble.

Hypnotherapy for Living in Your Thirties

Based on recent clients, I’ve noticed that the problems of adulthood are at their highest for thirty-year olds. Especially in this time, after the surge of unemployment and the country’s economic crisis, men and women in their thirties are stressed over not reaching the goals they believe they were supposed to reach in their younger years.

If the adults are college graduates, their loans are obstacles to the answer of simply furthering their education. Also consider the alienation caused by an over-reliance on technology and social networking to build relationships, and you’ll eventually get the real picture:

Thirty-year olds in 2014 are at risk at being a severely depressed, anxious, and discouraged group. If you agree, let me know your thoughts. Or if you think you may be a part of this group, how about considering hypnosis?
