Resolutions Always Fail, Right?

So resolutions always fail, right? There’s always a February falloff right? We lose 10 pounds in January, but then that box of chocolates just proves irresistible. True? Not necessarily.

The number one reason that resolutions fail is because we view resolutions wrong.

A lot of us think that resolutions are this mountain-top pot of gold that we need to strive to achieve. This inherently creates a huge amount of pressure because, after all, who wants to hike up a mountain?

Resolutions should start with looking at the treasure that’s right in front of you on the ground. Start small. Rather than externalize your dreams by saying to yourself, “I’m going to lose 30 pounds this year,” reframe that resolution by saying, “I’m going to lengthen my walk to work by 1 mile every day” or “I’m going to spend more time in the produce and vegetable section of the supermarket.”

Make your resolutions simple and manageable, and they will take off.

Life Coach Helps Sister Lose Weight And Become A Champion

A teacher in Dublin recently wrote an excerpt for the Irish Independent that I’d like to share with you. The teacher, Danielle Hayes, went from a massively overweight woman to a much slimmer World Champion power-lifter. With the help of her brother, who served also as her fitness and life coach, Hayes stuck to a regimen of diet and exercise that not only got her to her target body weight, but made her an elite world athlete.

I urge you all to read the article on your own, but I want to quote some of the reasons she lost weight, several of which I hear on a daily basis from my clients who come to me to lose weight: According to Hayes, she wanted,

“…to be healthy, to keep fit, to remain mentally focused, to maintain [her] physique, and to boost [her] confidence and self-esteem…”

That last reason is what I hear almost every person want to accomplish: gaining confidence. You will gain confidence when you come to me, just like Danielle Hayes. With confidence and a better body, you can be the master of whatever you choose to be.

On your mark, get set, lose! For residents of the state of Kansas, their Governor Sam Brownback has an interesting proposition for them. Brownback says,

“My hope is that the Governor’s Weight Loss Challenge will encourage everyone to work together to make our state healthier,” said the governor in an official press release. “I am challenging teams of five people to compete against my team of five to lose the most percentage weight, with the ultimate goal of taking on and maintaining a healthier lifestyle for years to come.”
